Dc Motor:

Motors which runs on the dc supply.
     Motors  Definations Characterstics & Applications
 Dc Series Motor When the field winding is connected in series with the armature winding is known as Dc Series Motor.
  1. Have Highest  Starting Torque than other Dc motor.
  2. Variable Speed is possible 

 Dc Shunt Motor When the field winding is connected in parallel with the armature winding is known as Dc Shunt Motor.
  1. Have medium Starting Torque
  2. Constant Speed 
 Dc Compound

 
  1. Have High Starting Torque
  2. variable Speed is possible. 


                                          Induction Motor:

Three phase Induction Motor runs on three phase alternating Current are self starting,current is provided to the stator,a rotating magnetic field is produce and the rotor starts moving.
Squirrel Cage IM In squirrel cage,Due to rotating field current starts flowing in
short circuit  rotor bars.These current produce self magnetic field
which opposes main flux and rotor starts moving whose speed is less than synchronous speed.

  1. High overload Capacity
  2. Nearly constant speed
  3. Low cost 
  4. Havc low starting Torque
 Slip Ring IM In Slip ring,stator construction is same as SCIM
  1. High Starting Torque
  2. Always operates at synchronous speed under varying load
